filter - Excel formula to test text in A2<>A1 ignoring hidden cells (for conditional formatting)

Question

I want to use conditional formatting to introduce a line every time a cells text does not equal the cell text above.

(e.g. =A2<>A1 works fine for this, until I have hidden rows (Filters) on my table)

If the cells contained numbers then =$A2<>SUBTOTAL(106,$A1) works fine,

I need an equivalent version of Subtotal (To ignore hidden rows) that will test the text of a cell compared to the next visible cell above it,

Any help would be very welcome, thank you
