android - Why are my newly generated files from gradle build being marked with old epoch timestamp?

When I run a gradle build for my Android project on my 2019 Macbook Pro, the files are being timestamped with Dec 31, 1969.

This is mildly annoying.

Other files that I create manually (i.e. touch xyz.tmp) are being timestamped correctly.

Thoughts?
